I read this yesterday after watching Carole Cadwalladr TED talk ‘This is what a digital coup looks like’. “Data rights are human rights”. Both are heavily connected.

Yes, IP law needs reform. What we need though is a system that allows forms of consent on training LLMs, without holding progress back.

It feels like IP is being held over a barrel to win the AI arms race East vs West. Without considering the destruction and chaos it would have for businesses, innovators and creators.

As if we don’t own what we create, what do we have left?
